LED saves electricity through efficiency, not by being dimmer: more lumens per watt<\/strong>. At the same light output, consumption drops 75\u201385 % compared with halogen and incandescent lamps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where the saving comes from<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An incandescent lamp turns only about 5 % of its energy into light; the rest becomes heat. LED is far better. The key figure is lm\/W<\/strong> (lumens per watt) \u2014 the higher, the more efficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What it means in euros<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Example:<\/strong> a 60 W fitting running 4 hours a day uses ~88 kWh a year. An 8 W LED uses ~12 kWh. That is ~76 kWh saved per lamp per year. Multiply by the number of lamps in the house and you reach tens \u2014 often over a hundred \u2014 euros a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How fast does it pay off?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In heavily used rooms (kitchen, living room) an LED typically pays for itself in a few months<\/strong>. In rarely used spaces the payback is longer, but replacing there is not urgent either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
